Experts Reveal Reasons Your Business May Never Succeed

Entrepreneurship remains one of the surest routes to financial freedom. The prospects of owning your own business, of having multiple streams of income are exciting, to say the least. When you have established your own firm, you get to escape the stressful, monotonous long hours in office and can schedule your daily activities at your own pace and convenience. However, the life of a successful entrepreneur is not a bed of roses.  Owning and managing a successful business could be challenging. 80 percent of businesses, according to Bloomberg, fold up within the first eighteen months of their establishment. These start-ups crash owing to a number of reasons and these are examined below.

No Well-Thought out Business Plan

Successful businesses share many positive traits; one of these is that they are run on a sound, strategic and well-drafted business plan.  It is common knowledge that poor planning produces poor performance. This maxim also applies to the business world. Smart entrepreneurs recognize that business plans are critical to the success of a business; many a firm collapses because there are fundamental flaws in mapping out an effective strategy for their business from the outset.

Business plans are a tool for guidance to chart your directions at the inception of your outfit. Creating a business plan is nothing difficult. Keep in mind that crucial components of a sound business plan are

  • Brief description of your business, goals and vision
  • Analysis of the market
  • Needs of your workforce
  • Potential challenges and their solutions
  • Analysis of competition
  • List of supplies, statement of income, forecast of sales and expenses, balance sheet, etc.
  • Activities for advertising and marketing.

For your business to be a success story, you should make no bones about creating a sound business plan. Apart from the above-mentioned importance of effective business planning, it is also crucial to design a business plan as majority of banks ask for it if you request a loan for your firm from them. Free templates of a business plan are available here. You can modify and adapt any of the templates to suit your needs.

Reasons for Starting the Business

Did you establish you r firm for the right reasons? Is becoming another Dangote your major aim as an entrepreneur? Are you driven by the thought of becoming your own boss? Or you feel having your own company would avail you the opportunity of spending more time with your family? While these are among the benefits of successful entrepreneurship after many years of hard work, they should not be your major reasons for establishing the firm.

You should start a business on something you are passionate about and love. This skill or talent is the essence of your company, has to be something, you strongly believe, can yield product or service capable of fulfilling a genuine need of your client or customer.  You should make sure your product adds values to the society or serves some specific role. This is why it is important that entrepreneurs study the things people in a society are lacking so as to identify the niche of their business.   A business that cannot offer unique product or service to people in the society will sooner or later pack up.

Branding Is Key

Research has shown that brand image influences customer’s attitude toward a company. Successful entrepreneurs recognize this fact and put tremendous efforts in creating effective branding for their company.  Your brand represents your promise to your clients. It is not just a logo, business card or website.  It is a derivative of what your firm stands for, the goals of your business and how customers see your enterprise.

In the competitive Nigerian market, the importance of good branding for a firm cannot be overemphasized. A good brand should maintain consistency with your company’s vision and goals. Any deviation from these could damage your customer perception.

Furthermore, a good brand should be unique. People all over the world cherish a product with an innovative and esthetic feature. Entrepreneurs should note that it is important to have one distinct attribute separating their business from their rivals.

An entrepreneur — while trying to make their brand unique, consistent with their values and engaging — should endeavor to make it look as simple as possible. It should not be odd or complicated since this could be a turn-off for customers.

Indeed, for a business to be successful in Nigeria its branding must be engaging, unique, consistent and simple. Poor branding could damage a company’s customer perception.

Strong Presence on the Internet

A strong presence on the web and active social media account is essential for the success of a business because of a number of reasons. First, an SEO-optimized and professionally designed website can offer valuable information about your product or service to your customers that are internet savvy. Consequently, this may bring about some sales or attract more customers.

Having an account on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Nairaland, etc., can serve a number of functions. It can help you relate smoothly with your customers, change any wrong impression they might have about your enterprise, get more customers and generate more sales.

A good website and social media account can also function as platforms to get feedbacks and complaints from your customers; feedbacks are an essential component of good customer service. You should treat your customers professionally and with respect; since your business cannot thrive without them.

Smart entrepreneurs know that no business can be successful if it is not run on a sound business plan and strategy, if it has zero presence on the internet, if it does not pay attention to feedbacks or complaints from customers. They also know that people, who start a business so as to make quick cash and for other wrong reasons, often fail. A business venture must be founded based on strong values, passion and commitment, with good branding; only then can it become a success story.

SPIRIT OF NIGERIA

contest

  1. Contest Description

Since its independence in 1960, Nigeria has grown to become a ‘giant’ force in Africa- this does not come as a surprise if one considers the size of the country’s population and economy. With a population of about 175 million people, it is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous in Africa. The country is also notorious for its heterogeneity as it is the home of over 500 ethnic groups (with over 500 different languages) out of which Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba are the largest.

Nigeria outpaced South Africa to become the largest economy in Africa in 2014 and according to World Bank (2015), the country was ranked the 20th largest economy in the world worth more than $500 billion and $ 1 trillion in terms of nominal GDP and purchasing power parity respectively. However, 2016 has been an eventful one in the country as facts and figures show how the growth of the economy has plummeted.

Despite the current economic state of the country, Afridext is giving Nigerians a reason to celebrate the beauty, culture, creativity, ambience and dexterity of the country.

This is why you should pay attention to the quality of your web design

designers

In today’s highly technical world, everything is online. There is nothing you cannot buy, sell, trade, research, find pictures of, or play if you have a computer and internet connection. These days, there is a web site out there for anything you could name.

Which means that someone probably has a web site a lot like yours? As competition for page views grows more intense, web design more technical, and the internet more popular, good web design becomes more important than ever before. If you have a web site, then you want visitors to view that site. Good web design is the only way to make that happen. The average Internet cruiser is more jaded these days, harder to impress. Good web design is the only way to get repeat visitors.

Committed to helping you improve your service offerings through your website, we at Afridext have decided to identify the core elements of a good web design;

Content: Internet search engines have grown very clever about searching content on web sites these days. Good web design is centered on your web site’s content. What keywords will people search to find your site? Once you know what your keywords are, you need to have plenty of content on your site that features those keywords. There are several free web sites that allow you to check your keyword content. Use them. Content is what search engines look at first, so it is here that you must make your impression.

Links: Search engines, and your visitors, love links. You want links that connect to other pages of your site, internal links, as well as external links that connect to pages outside your domain. The more links you have, the better, so use them liberally throughout your site. Links also improve the navigation of your site, which is incredibly important to good web design.

Graphics: Bright colours, pictures, and fun fonts will make or break your web site. Graphics are going to fly at internet cruisers every way they look, so you want to make an impression with the graphics on your site. Good web design is about a pleasing flow of colours, pictures, graphics, and text. Don’t over clutter your pages, but make them exciting and interesting to look at.

Good web design is about learning how to balance key elements that appeal to search engines and your viewers. Your pages should flow together, your navigation should be easy, and your site filled with content. The only way to increase traffic to your site is through good web design that is updated regularly. This will ensure repeat, and new, business to your site. The more visitors you have, the better.

Afridext is a home for designers that can provide you with high quality web designs that would definitely increase traffic to your website and you can access any of these state of the art designers by launching a project on our website or by contacting our in-house designers directly at support@afridext.com.

Who is a graphics designer?

44159_afridextcom_22_1920

Graphics are needed to enliven a given space. But to create impact they must be designed and used sensibly. Graphic design is not just about creating good looking stuff, but creating impact and communicating. Not such an easy job! Graphic designers are fully equipped and qualified to perform this task. They can create graphics, modify, restructure, arrange and rearrange them to communicate the required message. This could involve arranging print and graphics for pages of a document, creating an interesting logo or mast head, catalogue, company calendars, year planners, invitations, postures, advertisements, banners, publications, designing a website and so on.

Depending on the purpose of a graphic to be created, audience and medium, designers think of different ideas and concepts to communicate the message in the best possible way. The final development also depends on the medium to be used such as print, film or electronic. Layouts are created by hand or computer to put the idea on paper. Use of computers in graphic designing has become a must. Graphic designers should keep updating their skills and knowledge on latest software.

Graphic designers need to be creative with a constant supply of fresh and unique ideas, able to work under tight deadlines and should keep updating with new technology and demands. It is a customer oriented job and their needs should be respected first. Some clients flip-flop until they get what they had in mind. Satisfying a client is a tough job and needs patience.

There are some qualities which graphic designers must have. Some people are innately capable and can become polished after getting trained, while others are interested and can acquire skills. There is also a category of graphic designers who are not very competent even after full-fledged training. There are many long and short term graphic design courses for people to get trained. Some take students only after they qualify a basic skills test. A full-time bachelor’s degree with advanced short courses gives one an edge. However, experience is the biggest teacher.

Graphic designers are much in demand with the ever increasing needs of the Internet, website designing, animation and animated films. It is one the most attractive occupations in present times. Afridext is a platform for you to advance your career as a designer and for you as a customer to meet designers that will promote your service offerings, log on to afridext.com to access high quality designs and designers, and if you desire to speak with us directly, contact us on support@afridext.com or call 2348059884966.

Graphic Design Introduction

An Overview of Graphic Design

arts-155495_640

Graphics are needed everywhere and are being created by millions of people all over the world. The real art is not just in creating graphics but arranging them in conjunction with other text and images to produce a coherent and interesting piece of work, according to the end goal. This is what is meant by graphic design. The process of graphic design enhances the look of a layout, is attractive to viewers, simplifies the message and helps communicate a message effectively. As simple it may seem, it is lot of hard work.

While creating a graphic design, designers plan and analyze factors such as audience, aim of the message, and medium (such as print, online, book or poster). Once basic requirements are sorted out, text and graphics are organized on selected formats and layouts. Fonts, colour, size and arrangement of text and graphics are re-looked at and sent for proofreading. While doing any graphic designing, basic elements design like line, shape, texture, space, size, value, colour, balance and rhythm are used. Graphic designs also need to respect the principles of design like balance, colour, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, proximity, repetition, rhythm, texture, unity, and white space. All these concepts are not new and have been understood many years back. However, they can be applied in many ways to create unique graphic designs.

The discipline of graphic design has been existent since very long and is becoming more and more flexible with the advent of new software and printing technologies. There are many software packages like Macromedia, Adobe, Corel Draw, and Paint Shop that aid in high quality and complexity of graphic design. Even the most qualified and experienced graphic designers need to be well versed and expert in the use of graphic design software, as almost all graphic designing is now being done on computers. One can easily print out drafts and make modifications many times, unlike the hand-made designs.

The art of graphic design is in high demand these days as it can be applied anywhere like print, films, animations, and computers. To be a graphic designer, one needs to get specialized training. The key to a graphic design is that it communicates the message well while being aesthetically appreciated. A good graphic design can attract viewers and do wonders while a bad one can spoil even the most important message.
